Time to Save the Meadows

The campaign to save Sefton Park Meadows entered it’s most important phase this week after Redrow submitted their planning application to build 34 luxury homes on the site.

Over the next few weeks the Save the Meadows campaign will be going through all of the documents. The generous donations that people have already made have allowed Save the Meadows to hire an expert planning consultant who will be helping them fight their case over the coming months.

The destruction of the Meadows is a long way from being a done deal and we would encourage everyone who cares about saving Liverpool’s parks to throw their weight behind the campaign.

Over the course of the last two years it has become obvious that the Meadows is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the council’s plan to sell off and concrete over Liverpool’s wonderful green spaces. There are now campaigns to Save Woolton Woods, Save Walton Hall Park, and Keep Calderstones Green. We would love it if everyone could support any campaigns that might be going on in your local area.

Liverpool Green Party has been dedicated to saving the Meadows right since the start of the campaign. Fighting against this development will be a key part of our election campaigns for both the Local and General Elections on the 7th of May.
